Fortbridge Group did not start as a group. It started as a sourcing and advisory practice, and each subsequent arm was formed because existing clients had a requirement we were not willing to subcontract.
Background
How the group formed
Fortbridge Solutions was established to handle sourcing, supply, and risk advisory for defense, government, and critical infrastructure clients — work where documentation and traceability matter as much as delivery.
Protective requirements surfaced repeatedly within that client base. Rather than broker them out, the group established Aegis One Protection as a separately licensed operating entity, so that protective work sits with a firm that holds the licence and the operational authority for it.
The same pattern produced Fortbridge AI. Clients adopting artificial intelligence were being served by firms that could demonstrate a model but had never had to defend one to an auditor. The group formed a dedicated engineering and advisory arm to do that work to the standard the rest of the group already held.
The result is three firms rather than one firm with three brochures. Each is separately staffed and separately accountable — which is the only structure under which claiming depth in all three is honest.
Operating Philosophy
What holds across every arm.
The disciplines differ substantially. These four commitments do not.

Assess before proposing
Every arm scopes a requirement before quoting it. Assessment is where the value of an engagement is largely determined, and it is the phase most often skipped by firms competing on speed.

Say no when it is warranted
A protective detail that is not justified, a procurement that should be handled internally, an AI project that should be a process fix — we will say so. Recommendations only carry weight if declining is a real option.

Document to an external standard
Our clients face regulatory, legal, and operational scrutiny. Records are produced to satisfy an outside reviewer, not an internal file — because that is the test they will eventually face.

Discretion as standard practice
Client identities and engagement details are not used as marketing material. References are provided to qualified prospective clients with the referenced client's consent, and not otherwise.
Structure
Governance and separation
Fortbridge Group holds the operating arms and sets the standards that apply across them. Day-to-day delivery, client relationships, and professional judgment sit with each arm.
Licensing separation
Protective operations are held in Aegis One Protection Inc., a separately licensed entity under the Ontario Private Security and Investigative Services Act. Regulated work sits with the entity that holds the licence for it — never with an advisory arm.
Contractual clarity
Clients contract with the arm delivering the work. On cross-arm programs, the contracting structure is agreed at the outset so that responsibility for each component is unambiguous.
Information handling
Client information is not shared across arms by default. Where a program genuinely spans arms, information sharing is scoped and agreed with the client rather than assumed from group membership.
Single accountable lead
Cross-arm programs are run by one named lead with authority across the components. The client has one point of accountability, not a coordination burden.
Leadership
Who runs the arms
Each arm is led by a principal with direct operating experience in that discipline, supported by practitioners rather than layered account management. Group leadership sets standards and holds accountability for cross-arm programs.
